Scott A. Monteith, MD, FAPA
Dr. Scott Monteith is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Michigan State University. He was Chief Resident in his psychiatric residency, is board-certified in psychiatry, and a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (DLFAPA). He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the department of Psychiatry, as well as the Psychiatry co-Clerkship Director for the Traverse City campus of Michigan State University. He is also the Associate Program Director for the rural-track residency in partnership with Munson Healthcare, Pine Rest, and Michigan State University.
Dr. Monteith is a Past President of the Michigan Psychatric Society which represents over 800 psychiatrists across the state. He was co-lead of behavioral health at Trinity Health, Together Health Network's Associate Medical Director for Behavioral Health, and former Medical Director for Beacon/Anthem (now Elevance). He is now the Chief Medical Officer at the Lakeshore Regional Entity and Board Member at the Michigan Health Information Network (MIHIN). He has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in the areas of health information technology and bipolar disorder.
Dr. Monteith has worked with his local community mental health center for over 25 years, and is a founder of Behavioral Medicine Associates, PLLC. He was appointed to the Lieutenant Governor's workforce examining reform of the public mental health system and served on the Behavioral Health Integration Task Force for the Michigan Hospital Association. His interests include health policy, integrated care, health information technology, and mind-body medicine.
